Obituary of Joseph Bernard Murphy
It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph (Joe) Bernard Murphy who peacefully left us during the early morning hours of June 1, 2022.
Joe was very proud of his Ohio roots and it was there that he and Theresa created 37 years of wonderful memories while raising their children. In June of last year Joe and Theresa made the move to the Maples community to be closer to family and friends.
Joe will always be remembered for his exceptional quick wit, the love he held for his numerous brothers and sisters and the pride he felt for his children and grandchildren (Emma, Connor, Lauren, Gracie, Marliese and Avery).
Joe worked at Northern Pulp for 25 years as a Steamfitter/Pipefitter where he took great pride in his work and where he developed many life long friendships, many of which he maintained after retirement.
Joe is survived by his ‘sweetheart, darling, love’ Theresa Murphy (Delorey), his beloved daughter Amanda Murphy, Spruce Grove, AB and his cherished son Matthew Murphy, Halifax; daughter Jolene DeCoste, Addington Forks; siblings George (Doreen), Windsor, Ont; Greg (Georgina), Pinevale; Claire, Elmsdale; Frances (Archie), Morristown; Helena, Monastery; Linda (Lorne), Maryvale. He was predeceased by his parents Omar and Marie (Chisholm) Murphy, brothers Danny, Peter, Jerome and sister Sadie.
Cremation has taken place. A private family gathering will be held in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St., Antigonish at 11:30 am on Monday, June 6 to be followed by a 2pm Funeral Mass in St. Joseph’s Parish Church, St. Joseph's, Rev. Lazarus Guria presiding. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery.
