Obituary of Gerald Sampson
Joseph ‘Gerald’ Sampson of Port Hawkesbury (formerly of Louisdale) left us peacefully June 14, 2022, in St. Martha’s Hospital (Antigonish).
Throughout his entire Life ‘Big’ Gerald rose above all trials and tribulations with strength, kindness, and grace. He wore his compassionate heart on his sleeve and was always selfless and kind towards others. If Gerald shed a tear in front of you, it meant he loved you with all his heart.
A devote and loving partner to his spouse Barbara Ann Scott (predeceased), Gerald’s blended family included his three children with Linda (Joanne, ‘Little’ Gerald, and Donna), eight grandchildren, three stepchildren (Dolores, Carolyn, and Christopher), and seven step-grandchildren. Gerald is predeceased by his parents Gilbert and Cecile Sampson and his sisters and brothers Jeanette, Lillian, Zelia, Bert, Leo, and Lawrence.
A volunteer at heart, there are many of us who have crossed paths with Gerald and have experienced his uplifting blessings – literally, as we all carry his Angels in our pockets.
Funeral mass will be held on July 1, 2022 at 10am in St. Joseph’s Church, Port Hawkesbury. Reception to follow. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society – The Lodge that Gives (Halifax) by calling 902-423-6183. Or by mailing donations to 5826 South St. Halifax, NS B3H-1S6.
Saint Peregrine, Patron Saint of Cancer Patients
O God, in Saint Peregrine
You gave us an outstanding example of faith and patience.
We humbly ask you that, by imitating him and by the help of his prayers,
we may believe more fully in your healing help,
bear the suffering of this life without wavering,
and come with joy to the peace of heaven.
We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Amen
