Obituary of Margaret MacDonald
MacDonald, Margaret "Teresa", 88 of West River, Antigonish County, passed away peacefully at High Crest Nursing Home in Sherbrooke, N.S, July 25, 2016. She was a daughter of the late William and Margaret (MacKenzie) Hanifen, born on June 9th, 1928 in Boston MA, U.S.A. She was a Library Clerk at St. F.X.U. for many years. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Auxillary Branch 59 and St. Ninian’s C.W.L. She was appointed by Dr. Bill Gillis and served as a founding member on the Status of Women Council Nova Scotia. She worked for many years as an electoral returning officer. Teresa lived her life out of a deep rooted faith and as a result ministered to all who knew her. She was an extraordinary wife and mother. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 66 years Charles Austin, and her only brother Angus Joseph, Far Rockaway, NY. She is survived by her seven children: Paul (Linda), Smiths Falls, ON, Argyle MacDonald, Antigonish, Margie (John) Besaw, Antigonish, Charlie (Gail), Antigonish, Martha (Jim), MacIntyre, Antigonish, Cathy (Peter) Langille, Dundas, ON, and Janette (Daniel) Parsons, Fair Haven, NJ, 23 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Visitation 4-7 pm Thursday, July 28, in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St, Antigonish. Funeral Mass 2:00pm Friday in St. Ninian’s Cathedral, Rev. Donald MacGillivray presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery, reception to follow at St. Ninian Place, lower level.
