Obituary of Leo Robert Benoit
Benoit, Leo Robert, 76, of Pomquet, Antigonish County, passed away peacefully, Thursday, August 11, 2016 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Pomquet he was a son of the late Leo and Alice (DeYoung) Benoit. Leo worked at the Co-op Feed Store in Antigonish for 25 years. Upon retirement he took care of his brother Gerard. , and walking with is dog Myia. He enjoyed gardening and working in the woods preparing firewood. Surviving are children Richard (Kim), New Brunswick; Eloi (Marie); Dean (Mena), Pomquet; Michael, Antigonish; Maurice (Rose), Ottawa; Paul, Alberta; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sisters Martha MacLean, Sommerville, MA; Yvonne Doiron; Adele (Henry) Delorey, Pomquet; brothers Alfred (Adele), Pomquet; Charlie (late Josie), Oakville ON; Bernie, and John (Betty) , Pomquet; sister-in law Gladys, Antigonish; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son Bruce, brothers Louis and Gerard, brothers-in-law Stewart MacLean, Charlie Doiron and sister-in-law Josephine. Cremation has taken place, Funeral Mass 10:00 am Saturday in St. Croix Church, Pomquet, Rev. Gary MacPherson presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery. Reception to follow in the parish hall. Donations the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of choice.
