Obituary of Henry Delorey

W. Henry Delorey, 88, of Trenton, NS, formerly of Merland, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2023 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New, Glasgow. Born in Merland, he was a son of the late James and Mary A. (Pettipas) Delorey.

Henry worked for many years in construction as a heavy equipment mechanic as a well-respected crane operator with the Union of Operating Engineers. Later in life he enjoyed camping, listening to old country music and especially playing darts. Henry was also fond of big Ford's. He was a family man and enjoyed time spent with grandchildren.

Surviving are his spouse, Jane Ivany, sons James (Stella), Halifax and John (Angela), Thunder Bay, step-daughters Anne Marie, Guysborough, Sandra, Quebec City, Bonnie, Halifax and Sherry, Sudbury, also 13 grandchildren. Including Sarah Jane, who he helped raise, Jane's children John, Susan, Brian Ivany and Pam Ivany-Baetz. Also surviving are sisters Margaret LeBlanc, Martha (Martie) Carnagie, Agnes Kennedy and brothers Joseph, John, Phillip, Charlie and Michael,

He was predeceased by sisters Theresa Bobko and Mary Marcella in infancy, and Gary Ivany.

Visitation 2-5 pm Sunday, December 3, in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St., Antigonish. Funeral Mass 11am Monday in St Peter’s Church, Tracadie, Rev. John Barry presiding. Burial to follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Merland.
