Obituary of Maurice Colin Chisholm

Maurice "Mo" Colin Chisholm, North Grant died peacefully with family by his side, August 6, 2015. Born in Antigonish, September 6 1923 to the late Frank and Mary Chisholm. Mo was self employed as a paint contractor for many years, operating a small family farm, and went on to work for Canada Post as a driver for 25 years. Mo also was an avid bowler, being there so much it turned into a part time paid position. He was one of the very best in the Maritimes and in one year he threw seven - 400 games, an amazing feat! Coaching bowling, track and field, fastball and hockey teams were also some of his passions while raising 10 children and never losing his sense of humour. Well known for his love of the New York Yankees and enjoying the jousting associated with the sport, Mo was also fond of a good game of cards with friends. Mo enjoyed antiques, flea markets, yard sales, and auctions so much that he opened his shop "Mo's Antiques and Second Hand Furniture". His lawn was always well decorated for the holidays and an abyss for beautiful flowers! Survived by his wife and best friend Evangeline "Dee Dee" (Arsenault) of 62 years, sons Edward, North Grant, Kevin, (Donna), Edmonton, Wayne (Bea), New Glasgow, Darryl, Halifax, Alastair, North Grant. Daughters Linda (David) Code, Carbon, AB, Betty Lou (Dan) Chisholm, Fall River, Michelle, Malignant Cove, sisters Betty Power and Jean MacNeil. Also survived by grandchildren, Jason, Ginette (Richard), Ian (Lorna), Nicole (Ben), Matthew, Katie (Sean), Luke, Shawn, Chelsea, Cody, Micayla, Jillian, Riley, Ben, Alex and Mack. Great-grandchildren Emma, Jessa, Isaac, Olivia, Ella, Caleb, Sarah and Jake. Mo was predeceased by his parents and sons Dennis and Shawn, brothers Harold and Frank "Junie", Grandson Michael, Brothers in law, Bernie MacNeil, Charlie Cameron, Edwin Power, Edward Arsenault, sisters in law, Mabel Arsenault, and Rose Marie Arsenault, and daughter in law Sarah Chisholm. Surviving are sisters-in-law Mary Chisholm, Yvonne Gallant, Dianne Chisholm, Joan Tunney, Theresa Arsenault, Mary Margaret Arsenault. Surviving brothers-in-law Phil Arsenault, Joe Arsenault, Charlie Gallant, Wayne Tunney and Benny Chisholm. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 on Sunday August 9, 2015. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant Street, Antigonish. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ninian Cathedral Parish on Monday August 10th, 2015 at 11 am with Reverend Donald MacGillivray presiding. Burial following at St Ninian Parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to "The Shawn Chisholm Memorial Bursary" at the Dr. John Hugh Gillis Regional High School.
