Obituary of John Angus MacDonald

It is with deep sadness that the family of John Angus (Johnny) MacDonald, announce his passing on Sunday, September 4, 2016, at his home in ST. Joseph's, Antigonish, NS. Born in Antigonish, John was the son of the late Roderick and Annabelle (Fraser) MacDonald, St. Joseph's. John worked at the Williams Brothers Sawmill for many years and then went on to become a long member of the Department of Transportation, Local 1867 until retirement. John enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He cherished family and friends, step dancing to the fiddle, working in the woods, and "running the roads". He is survived by his son Joe (DeCoste), daughter-in-law Becky Venedam and two grandchildren Jordyn and Carter; brothers Danny, St. Joseph's; Charlie (Mary Janet), Brierly Brook; Rod (Bernadette), Georgeville; Ronald (Paula), St. Joseph's; sisters Tina (James), Glen Road; Mary, Antigonish, sister-in-law Evelyn MacDonald, St. Joseph’s, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Dennis and Joe. Cremation has taken place. By John's request, no public service will be held. Graveside service will be held at St. Joseph's Parish Cemetery at 1pm on Saturday, September 10. Funeral directions are under the care of MacIsaac Funeral Home, Antigonish. Memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Diabetic Clinic Antigonish, or Antigonish and Area Homemakers. If anyone wishes to pay their respects, there will be a gathering at the home of Ronald (Huff), Paula MacDonald, St. Joseph's at 2-4pm.
