Obituary of Jeanette Elizabeth Greencorn
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jeannette Elizabeth Greencorn (née Praught) who died peacefully on August 13, 2024, surrounded by family at the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.
Jeannette, 70, was born on September 1, 1953, in Toronto and spent the first half of her life in Milton, Ontario, where she met and married the love of her life, Daniel (Dan) Greencorn. Jeannette, Dan, and first son, Andrew, moved to Halfway Cove, Nova Scotia in 1981, to be closer to Dan’s parents and raise a family. Jeannette was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who always placed the needs of others above her own, raising three children and providing care for her ailing husband in his final years. She hoped to one day return to Milton to be close to her own parents and siblings again.
Jeannette enjoyed reading and baking, working in her gardens, and walking in nature. She always took time to admire even the smallest flowers, stones and mosses, and loved looking through shops in search of unique or silly items that would put a smile on someone’s face.
Jeannette is survived and missed by her mother, Shirley; sisters, Debora (Don) and Heather (Brian); brother, James; sons, Andrew (Katie), Michael (Ray), and Steven; step-daughter, Wilma (Lawrence); and grandson, Daniel (Emily).
Jeannette rejoins her beloved husband, Dan; father, Bill; and sister, Kathy, all predeceased.
Cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will be planned with family at a later date.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home for their care and compassion.
