Obituary of Trevor Joseph Burns
It's with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Trevor Joseph Burns. 45, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital on August 18, 2024.
Trevor was born and raised in Tracadie, where he eventually bought the family home. He was proud that he was able to purchase it after the passing of his mother in 2019.
Trevor adored his daughter, Layla. He talked about how beautiful and smart she is and how he couldn't wait to see her again. He tried his hardest to better his life for her once she was born. Before the birth of his daughter, he loved spending time with his niece's and nephew's. Especially, James, Connor and Sawyer, who lived just down the road. He always bought them gifts and made them laugh and you could see the joy on his face knowing he was the reason behind it. His goal was to do the same for Layla...because she would always be his number one.
Trevor never had an easy life. He struggled with addiction, but he always tried his best to do the right thing. Anyone who knew him knew he would give you the shirt off his back, if you needed it.
He was tough. He was a survivor. He had three open heart surgeries, and still kept going strong. He was a stubborn man. He had a special relationship with his brother Darren. They had their arguments, disagreements, and strong opinions, but no matter what, there was love, respect and loyalty. They would do whatever they could for one another.
Trevor was predeceased by his mother Hattie (Bells) Burns (2019). His father Anthony Decoste (2017)
He is survived by his biological father Tony Hutton; siblings Darren Decoste (Jennifer Mattie) Tracadie; Wanda DeWolfe (Eddy) Alberta; Stefon Hutton Ontario; his partner Jennifer Bowers; and, the love of his life, his daughter, Layla.
There will be no visitation. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 am on Monday, August 26th in St. Peter's Church, Tracadie. Burial in the parish cemetery.
Trevor will be missed by many people. His death has left a hole in the lives of his family and friends. But the loss of the future he could have had with his daughter is probably the most tragic.
Rest in peace, Trevor. We love you!
