Obituary of Harold Alexander ‘Sandy’ MacEachern
Sandy passed away unexpectedly on August 26, 2024 at home. Born May 2,1969 in Antigonish he was a son of the late Malcolm and Joan (MacPhie) MacEachern.
Sandy worked in the trucking industry for over 30 years and most recently with North Bay Fishermen’s Co-Op. He was also a member of the North Shore Volunteer Fire Department.
Although small in stature his presence was huge. Never one to shy away from an opinion or sassy comeback, he loved motorcycles, music festivals, trucking and hanging out with his friends. Sandy lived life 110%.
He is survived by his brothers James (Veronica); Hugh (Carol); Carmen; and sisters Linda (Donald); and Darlene (Reggie); aunts Ann (Ray) MacDonald (Godparents), Gladys MacGillivray and Dottie Fox as well as numerous nieces and nephews and goddaughter Wendy MacEachern MacDonald. He is also survived by his beloved and loyal dogs Oakley and Penny who were always by his side.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by aunts Janet Murphy, Mary Gillis, Marg Adams, Angeline Grant; uncles John M, Billy, Leonard, Harold James, Hughie Bernard, Gillis and Albert.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, September 2nd 10:00 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church, Ballantynes Cove with Rev. Andrew Boyd presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery. Reception to follow at the North Shore Firehall.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the SPCA or the Crohn’s and Colitis Society.
