Betty is survived by her eight devoted children: Mary (Charlie) Delorey, Gert (Ralph) Thibeau, Herman (Lynn), Ann Marie (Adrian) VanBerkel, John (Paula), Mike (Karen), Betsy (Michael) Delorey, and Cathy (Kenny Tate), five brothers Jan, Tom, Tjeu, Harry, and Herman and sister Coby all of the Netherlands. Her legacy continues through her 25 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

In 1954, shortly after their wedding, Betty and Mike embarked on a new adventure, immigrating to Canada aboard the Ryndam and arriving at the historic Pier 21 in Halifax. They initially settled in Antigonish County before making Heatherton their home in 1962, where they raised their family.

Betty dedicated many years to the Heatherton Activity Centre and was a cherished supporter of the CWL and Heather Club 60. She was a passionate supporter of 4H activities in Heatherton and took great pride in contributing her knitted crafts to the annual Eastern NS Exhibition. Betty found joy in spending time with friends, playing cards, Bingo, and bowling. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, providing her with comfort and strength, and she attended services regularly.
