Krista Beam

Obituary of Krista Ann Beam

Krista Ann (MacEachern) Beam, 44, of Bedford, NS, passed away suddenly on October 10, 2024. Her sudden departure comes as a great shock, and is gravely felt by her entire family, numerous co-workers, and many friends.

Krista was born on April 22, 1980 in Halifax. Prior to returning to Antigonish , Krista lived in Porters Lake, attending primary school in West Chezzetcook, the elementary and middle school in Porters Lake. After graduating from Dr. John H. Gillis High School, Antigonish in 1998, she went on to complete a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Saint Francis Xavier University. In 2022, Krista returned to Saint Francis Xavier to complete her Bachelor of Education degree.

Krista worked in the marine biology field for a number of years, including research with lobsters and time working with the Fisherman and Scientists Research Society. In 2012, Krista began her second career in education. Working in the post secondary field quickly became her passion – she thoroughly enjoyed helping students with their journey. She worked at Assiniboine Community College in Brandon, Manitoba, Mount Saint Vincent University, and most recently as a test centre administrator at Nova Scotia Community College Ivany campus, Halifax.

In her spare time, Krista could always be found with the book in one hand and her phone in the other. She was an avid reader, and had many bookshelves full of her favourite books, as well as her books to be read – all meticulously sorted and coordinated by colour. She also loved spending time with her two cats Henry and Eddy.

Krista is survived by her husband Jason Beam; father Bernie (Kathy Woodward) MacEachern; uncles Gussie (Sharon) MacInnis; Tony (Terry) MacEachern; aunts Winnie (Paul MacGillivray) LeFort; Maria (John) MacIsaac; Cecile MacEachern; as well as many cousins who felt like her siblings.
