Obituary of Josephine Ann MacEachern

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother and sister Josephine "Josie" MacEachern, of Pleasant Valley on December 25th, 2024, at home. 

Josie was born on February 26th 1947 in Antigonish and was the daughter of Joseph MacEachern and Alice Delaney. Josie worked at various jobs in Antigonish throughout her life but, most importantly, was a home maker where she took pride in raising her three children. Josie was famous for her biscuits and rolls. Anyone who knew her knew she would have plenty if they stopped in for a visit. Many of her preserves were enjoyed at family get togethers.

Josie is survived by her husband, Jonnie, of 55 years; daughter, Kim (Doug), Brookfield; sons; John (Amanda), Yellowknife; Dale (Jennifer), Arisaig; granddaughters, Chelsea, Melody, Emily, Abby and her very special great grand-daughter, Claira. She is also survived by her brothers; John (Marion), McArras Brook; Clarence, North Grant; sisters Jeanette (late Donald) Crooks; Hilda, both of Antigonish; and Mary-Alice (late Brian), New Glasgow.

Besides her parents, Josie is predeceased by her sister Bernice (Steve) Fraser; brothers Phillip, Colin, Jerome, and Andrew in infancy; and son-in-law, Philip.

In keeping Josie's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Sunday, December 29th in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St., Antigonish. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 am on Monday, December 30th in St Mary's Church, Maryvale. 

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Terry Fox Foundation for Cancer Research would be appreciated.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Palliative Care Unit team of St. Martha's Regional Hospital. They provided exceptional care and compassion at a time when needed the most.
