Obituary of Margaret Annabelle Bray

Margaret Annabelle Bray (neeWallace), 75, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 21, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Merland in 1940 to James Edward and Annie Teresa (nee Daley) Wallace, Margaret was one of ten children. Margaret was raised in Afton and moved to Copper Lake upon her marriage to her husband, Vernon Bray. She was predeceased by husband Vernon Jerome, brothers James Vincent, William John and Raymond (Tina); sisters Helen Jean, Mary Florence and Marcella (in infancy). Margaret is survived by four children, John Gerard (Lochaber), Joseph Andrew (Copper Lake), Valerie Therese (David) Chisholm (Giants Lake) and Bernadette Elizabeth Bray (Winsted, CT); sisters Kathleen Chisholm and Grace Dort (Antigonish); brother Edmund (Ontario); sisters-in-law Eileen Bray (Antigonish) and Isabelle (Jim) Diorio (Montreal); grandchildren Jennifer Lynn Bray and Christopher Bray (New Glasgow), Joseph (Jennifer) Onion and Nicholas Onion (Connecticut), James Frederick and Emma Margaret Chisholm (Giants Lake), several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Margaret worked with her husband on the family farm in Copper Lake and enjoyed managing the farm’s Christmas tree lot. She volunteered at her local parish, St. Patrick’s in Lochaber. She always strove to make her home a comfortable place for all who entered, including several foster children. She embodied a strong will and determination to persevere in all that she undertook. A special thank you is extended to medical personnel including Dr. Eckhart and Dr. Sturmy for the care they provided over the years and also to the staff of St. Martha’s Hospital’s Geriatric Ward for making Margaret’s final days comfortable. Visitation 2 - 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. Monday, October 24, in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant Street, Antigonish. Funeral mass 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 25, in St. Patrick’s Church, Lochaber, Fr. Ikechukwu Alphonsus Iwuji presiding. Burial to follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. www.MacIsaacs.ca
