Obituary of Mary MacDonald

Mary "Collie A." MacDonald, 80, Doctor’s Brook, Antigonish Co., passed away peacefully November 21st, 2016 at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital. Born on June 5th, 1936 she was the daughter of the late Angus Hughie and Sadie (Grant) MacDonald. She worked at housekeeping in Boston, as a clerk at Crispo and MacIntosh and MacDonald Brothers in Antigonish for several years before marrying Collie A. and raising her family. Mom had a great love of family and was happiest when she was surrounded by those she loved. She was a wonderful homemaker, known for her homemade bread. Mom was a devout Catholic, faithful to the Holy Rosary, attending mass as much as possible and will be remembered for living by her faith each day. Mom was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Collie A., and is survived by seven children, nineteen grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. Daughter Cathy, at home; Elaine (Dave) Grandy, and children David Scott and Robbie, Tatamagouche; Yvonne (Francis) Maas and children Celia (Daniel Picard), Colin (Rachel), Angus (Genna) and Beth, Maryvale; David (Cheryl Murray) and children Sara (Geoff Wilson), Brydon (Lindsay), Meagan (Ryan Doucet), Katelyn (Leigh Murray) and Ashley, Doctor’s Brook; Darrell (Margie MacDonald) and children Matthew and Bria, James River; Keith (Leanne MacDonald), and children Emma and Jay, Saltsprings; Laureen (Kenny) Mac Donald and children, Jessica, Kristen, Amanda and Matthew, Cow Bay; sisters Theresa, Catherine (Kaye), and Betty Chisholm (Maryvale) and Joyce (Kevin Maguire) Brampton, Ontario; brother Hughie (Shirlee) Maryvale. Visitation Thursday 2-4pm and 7-9pm in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St., Antigonish. Funeral 11:00 am Friday at St Margaret’s Church, Arisaig with Father Colin Mac Kinnon presiding. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery. If so desired, donations to the VON or the Peggy Scot Society would be appreciated.
