Mary Ann (MacDonald) McConnell posted a condolence
Friday, December 24, 2021
So sorry to hear of Dot’s passing. She and my Dad , Reuben Fauster MacDonald were first cousins. Her Dad and my grandmother, Lena Graham MacDonald were siblings. I visited with Dot in August of 2014, my last trip to Antigonish. She was quite the lady and a wealth of information about the Grahams. My condolences to Jamie and Cathy, who we met in NY many years ago, and the rest of Dot’s family.

Our heart felt condolences to the whole family. Everyone who had the privilege of having Dot start them off in their first years of school is so much the better for it. When I fondly think if the little school at the end of South Side Hbr road my first memory is always that of her as our teacher. She has impacted so many lives for the better and we were so fortunate to have her in our lives. Deepest sympathies.

To all of Dot’s family,
From 1972-1976 I had the honour of teaching with Dot in Lower South River. They were without a doubt the happiest years in my teaching career. This remarkable, wise and loving woman embraced me and shared her gifts each and every day. No Education degree could prepare me for my position as well as Dot’s caring and experienced conversations and example in that little school. She treated me like one of her family and I know that each one of you who mourn her loss was blessed in a very special way. May she Rest In Peace.

We were Blessed to have had Mrs. Chisholm (Dot) be our two oldest girls first teacher. It was almost like having Grandma teach the kids! As well as being the best teacher, she loved them. Over the years we have had several conversations with her and always she would ask about the kids. Truly a special lady….a life well lived and indeed well loved! Our heartfelt sympathies! I’ll bet Kitty was ringing the bell as Dot walked through the gates of Heaven!

Dear Family of Dot:
Dot sure was an amazing lady! My Dad, Reg Connors, loved to chat with her and tease her too. She loved to talk about her friends in Bayfield! I'm sure she was an amazing teacher! I will always remember her beautiful smile and how 'classy' she dressed.
Cherish your abundance of memories!
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Sincerely,
Alice Mattie.
