Obituary of Dorothy Elizabeth Chisholm

Dorothy Elizabeth "Dot" Chisholm, of Southside Harbour, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2021, just six months after celebrating her 100th birthday, in Green Meadows Community Residence for Seniors, North Grant, her home for the past three and a half years. Born in Antigonish she was a daughter of the late Reuben and Margaret (Chisholm) Graham of Bayfield. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. 

Dot was predeceased by her husband, Alex Rod Chisholm and her only sibling, Marcella Graham. She is survived by her five sons, Graham (Kathie), British Columbia; Jamie (Cathy), New York; Colin (Janet) and Kenny, both of Southside Harbour; Hughie (Heather), Fall River; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Daniel (Josee), Mary Beth, Brian, Sean, Drew and sister-in-law Kathleen Chisholm.

Dot graduated from Mabou Convent then attended Normal College in Truro graduating with her teaching certificate. She taught for over 30 years and was well respected by her peers, students and families alike.
 

Dot was a woman of strong faith; many novenas were said for her family. She was inquisitive and had a keen interest in the people around her and was very knowledgeable of the genealogy of many of those people. She enjoyed a good game of cards and a hot cup of tea. 
 

The family would like to thank the staff at Green Meadows for the care she received while a resident. 
 

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St. Funeral Mass 10 am Thursday in Ste. Croix Church, Pomquet, Rev. Andrew Gillies presiding, burial in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Antigonish Seniors CARE Van or the Ste. Croix Cemetery Fund. Covid-19 protocols of proof of vaccination and photo ID as well as masking are required to attend. www.MacIsaacs.ca
