Obituary of May Doucet

Please share a memory of May to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Clare "May" Doucet passed away peacefully on Monday, December 13, 2021 in the R.K. MacDonald Nursing home with her loving sister, Kay, by her side.

Born on November 4, 1925 in Tompkins, Newfoundland, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Florence (MacLellan) Doucet.

When May settled in Antigonish she was employed by MacLellan's woodworking mill, the Credit Union and CJFX for a number of years. She then returned to school and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from St. Francis Xavier University where she worked as an archivist until her retirement. May had many interests including knitting, gardening, traveling and, true to her Newfoundland upbringing and spirit, loved hosting family and friends, especially children, in her home. She was an active member of many organizations including the Faith in God Prayer Group, the St. Ninian's CWL, the Antigonish Community Food Bank where she was a dedicated volunteer for many years, to name a few.

May is survived by her sister, Catherine (Kay) and several cousins in Newfoundland, Cape Breton and Ontario. She is predeceased by her brothers Ronald (Betty), Fr. Paul (C.Ss.R) and sister Georgina.
