Obituary of Jessie Martina Sears

Sears, Jessie Martina, 95, of Church Street, Antigonish, where she lived all her life, passed away peacfully on December 19, 2021 surrounded by her family at St. Martha's Regional Hospital.

Born in Antigonish, she was the daughter of the late James "Painter" and Jessie (MacRae) MacDonald. She was a wonderful mother to her seven children and a great Nannie and "Super" Nannie. She was known for her love of skating, bowling and the Toronto Maple Leafs and was at her best when playing 45's. (She said she even wrote the book on 45's and that we should read it when playing cards.) We had many laughs when playing cards.

She is survived by her children Anne (Len) Limpert, Bible Hill; Jacqueline, Halifax; David (Donna), Pinevale; Judy (Ralph) Riley, Whites Lake; Peter and Donnie, Antigonish; Sandy (Andrea), Alaska; grandchildren Bret (late Stephanie), Sara, Erin, Gorman, Danny, Jenna, Jackie and Piper; great-grandchildren Reagan, Jake, Hudson, Xavier and Eli. She was predeceased by her husband Leo and siblings Theresa, Mary, Roberta, Gertye, Sadie, Jimmy, Jobie, Billy and Louis.

Special thanks to Dr. Patsy McKenna and the doctors and nurses at St. Martha's Hospital. She had many special friends including Helen and Minnie, thanks for the many years of care; and Jim and John Dan for always being there for her. Jessie always stated she had the best friends and neighbours in the world. She will be greatly missed.

Due to Covid-19 protocols, there will be a private family visitation. Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 in St. Ninian Cathedral. A  live stream link will be available on the funeral home website. Burial in the parish cemetery. Proof of Vaccination and a valid ID must be presented to attend funeral. Masks are mandatory. Maximum capacity is limited to 50.
