To Ann and family,
Please accept our sincere condolences and deepest sympathy on the passing of a beloved husband, father and lifelong learner. Wally was a very interesting and dedicated educator to work with. His way with words and sense of humour were unmatched. His reference to mournful ballads in the country music genre would put you at ease in rather stressful situations. You always knew where you stood with Wally and he could take what he gave. A truly genuine individual.
May he Rest In Peace !

To the Cooke Family,
Many years ago I was hired to teach the first special education class at Morrison School. The classroom was in the basement across the hall from Wally’s office. He was instrumental in seeing that things were in place for this group of children who had never been in school before. He was an integral part of the support system for myself as well as the parents and students. He was always seeking new ways in which we could engage students. I thoroughly enjoyed his sense of humour and he left me with positive memories of my time at Morrison. Please accept my sympathies on your loss.

You perhaps don’t know me but Wallace and I roomed together for two years in old Mockler Hall and became quite close friends. My sister and brother-in-law( Mary Thelma and Seward Farrell) live in Antigonish and when visiting frequently met up for a brief chit chat, usually at the golf course.Fond memories of home comings, football and hockey games and the banter that was always a part of our lives back then.May God keep your dear one in his everlasting arms.

My memory of Wally was back when I was starting my teaching career and was sent by the Martha's to finish off the year teaching grade 3 replacing a Sister off on sick leave. I stayed at Wallys place for a day or two until they found a residence closer to the school. I joined his brothers and cousins playing baseball in the large front yard. I have fond memories of time spent in Ingonish.

My sincere and heartfelt sympathy to all in the Cooke family, and extended family, on Wally's passing. He was a great principal and colleague when we worked together at SAJS, and was so supportive and professional in dealing with parents and students (always). And, he knew every child in the building, developing lifetime relationships with the kids, as they arrived on the morning buses, during recess, and lunchtime, and after school. He used his own vocabulary words during the noon announcements. The kids would ask me sometimes "what's he saying, sir?" and I would reply "Have no idea, just listen and learn". It was a learning experience for all of us, and he was well loved in the process. Later, after we retired, he would always stop his Jeep on MacLellan Street and say hello as he was passing by and we would catch up on our lives, have a few laughs, and just re-connect. He was a good friend and colleague, and I send my love and prayers to all the family at this difficult time. May Wally rest in peace and when he meets St. Peter explain some of those unique vocabulary words. God bless Wally and his family !

To Ann, Evelyn and Family:
We want to express our most sincere sympathy on the passing of Wally. We both have had the pleasure of working with him over the years in the Antigonish education system. There was always conversations with plenty of educational vocabulary unknown to most of us.
We referred to these as "Wally's words" which came in handy in writing term papers. Wally was a positive influence on many of us in the teaching profession and will be fondly remembered. RIP Wally
