Hello Donnie, I'm so sorry to hear from Bonnie about Barb's passing. She was such a dynamic and inspiring person.
Do you remember on your adventure to Scotland in 2017, when we were on the bus from Edinburgh coming back to my home in Fife and, as we crossed the Forth Road Bridge, a fellow passenger (hearing your accents) told us that he had taken photos every day since the start of the construction of the new Queensferry Crossing? Then he kindly gave Barb a video of all the photos; she was really chuffed!
Take care - I'll be thinking of you all at this sad time.

We haven't seen Barb in a few years and were unaware she was sick. May she be at peace. Terry and Clare Kennedy.

Donnie & family,
Condolences to all of you. Barb was a wonderful person who was so full of love. She was our most loyal and supportive fan when I played basketball at St.F.X. Every home game, she sat on the baseline and we lovingly referred to her as "Baseline Barb". She was kind, generous, funny, and a fill-in mom for the times I needed support. Barb was so incredibly fit and motivational. She was a hero. She was a friend.
Thinking of you all during this difficult time.

She gave a lot and will be missed.

So very sorry to receive this news. Barb always said we were cousins and as such I had to do whatever she wanted . I thought I was blessed to be her cousin because she always was a large, admired presence. In elementary school I did a lot of things she wanted me to do, although sometimes I shouldn’t have. We stayed friends our whole life although we only occasionally met in recent years it was always a wonderful visit when I heard, “hello Cuz”. She was also so good to our mom who loved Barb too. Rest In Peace dear friend.
Sincere condolences to Donnie Wayne and all Barb’s family.

Barb and I were teammates in the late 1960s on the local women's basketball team--the Antigonish Scots. Barb was skilled, fun, and passionate about the game. She and I played guard on the team switching between point guard and shooting guard. Most often we deferred to our beloved coach Jane MacGillivray about these assignments, but sometimes we would switch positions in the middle of the game (much to Jane's consternation. . .).
I remember these times on and off the court with great fondness both for the games we played and for our friend Barb.
May Barb rest in peace. No more fancy dribbling. . .

Dear Barb
I first met you in the emergency room at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital. Joe and I were planning to meet you at your home but we made a short detour to the hospital due to Joe having a painful episode with his foot. Joe was worried we would be causing an inconvenience but when I met you, I knew you that assumption was never a reality.
Barb you were so gracious by providing us with your famous fish chowder and butterscotch pie. We got to meet Donnie, your brother Allister and your son Steven as well as your grandson Cameron.
Yes, Barb we had a reason for this visit, our children Bonnie and Michael were planning to marry and we were coming to visit Bonnie’s family.
The next trip down we spent time together, decorating the hall for Bonnie and Michael’s wedding reception. Your beautiful granddaughter Amelia arrived and you couldn’t wait to have her in your arms.
Anytime Joe and I travelled to Antigonish and stayed at the Ocean Front Shanties you and Donnie would come to visit.
Before I knew it, we were back in Antigonish for Sam’s Christening and you hosted his Christening Celebration. You did a great job and everyone had a wonderful time. This day continued on and the celebrations continued on Clarence’s boat to watch the July 1st fireworks for Canada Day but I liked to think for our Grandson Sam’s Christening. You and Joe had a good laugh or two and what a wonderful time to end the day.
We shared grandchildren and that created a Grandparent bond which allowed us to be part of each other lives.
When you came to look after Sam and Charlie when their parents were away on Work Conferences, Joe and I would visit and you could feel and see the Love you had for the boys.
Our paths would cross at many baseball games and you would cheer and encourage whichever grandson was up to bat. Good Memories.
Many times we would talk about how great our Grandsons were and the joy they brought into our lives.
The Angels have been sent, you have been Blessed and you will be missed.
Love Joan

My neighbour, my friend. Barb. I will forever be grateful to have known you, to have been your neighbour. I will always see you throwing peanuts to the squirrels, enticing the crows and the blue jays to come for a visit, pointing out the pussycat squirming about the bushes and of course watching over the grandkids and their blessed creature pets. I will see you rock so gently on the deck of the house on Hawthorne and, I'll wish that we could still talk. I will be grateful for the many times in which we did. I will smile when I think how long you called me Bernadette and I never corrected you. I liked that you called me that for it was the best compliment I could ever have received! I liked that you made the rhubarb cake but I'm pissed that I don't have the recipe! I always knew exactly where I stood with you and appreciated the honest sincerity of the relationship we shared. I'll miss you Barb. Peace out, God speed
