So sorry about your Dad. I fondly remember your parents from our busy neighborhood in Antigonish; both your parents were very kind and sweet people. Below is a poem that I found several years ago which helped me when I lost my grandparents.
Once upon a lifetime
Someone comes along
Who fills your life with laughter
And gives your heart a song
Thank you for the memories
And all the love you gave
I know that I had everything
I had you along life's way

Sending sincere condolences. I too, was lucky to have 'Mr. MacKay' as one one my memorable teachers at AEHS during the seventies - especially teaching physics principles that I still remember today. No doubt he has left a legacy of wonderful memories for you all to treasure during the days ahead.

We have lots of good memories of Dan and his family as a neighbour, friend, and colleague - Doug taught with him at AEHS, and later on I was often a sub at St. Andrew Jr School and Dan was always kind and helpful and a great sense of humour! Wonderful to see that he lived a long life and got to know/enjoy grand children! A grand legacy. May the good memories help sustain during those lonesome moments. Holding you all in my heart - our very best, Judy Donovan Whitty/Doug Whitty, Ch'town, PEI.

Dianne and I wish to express our condolences to all of Dan's family. Dan was an extremely kind and gentle soul who never had a bad word to say about anyone. Suzanne and our daughter Kelly were best friends throughout their school years and anytime Kelly was at Dan's house visiting Suzanne and her brothers, we knew she was in good hand and never worried about her.
I (Norm) knew Dan for many years and know that he will be sorely missed by everyone who was fortunate to have crossed paths with him. God speed.

Sending love and condolences to Suzanne , Lorin , Rene , Tanya and Alan . Your family was like a second family to me growing up and both your mom and dad always made me feel welcome . The last time I saw Dan was on a FaceTime call about five years ago , still with a smile on his face . He always remained a beacon of kindness and positivity and I know he will be missed beyond measure . Hugs to you all . ❤️

Mr. MacKay was my home room teacher in Grade 12 at Antigonish East High school. I remember him as being so kind and patient especially when I was flunking his physics class! I also recall how encouraging he was as I struggled with this subject and how happy he was when it finally all came to me allowing me to get a passing grade. People come and go in your life but there are some you never forget and Mr. MacKay is one of them for the impact they make. My sincere condolences to all his family!

I am so very sorry to hear about Mr. Mackay's passing. I recently moved home and wondered where he was now. He taught our whole family and was always one of our favourites. Lorin you spent lots of time at our place and I always enjoyed seeing Mr MacKay as a person and not just a teacher. One time in class he and a friend were sending jabs back and forth and he said “ain’t from glacé bay for nothing” as a response and it’s been a coined term with us since! Sending prayers in this tough time. God Bless.
