Obituary of Lauchlin Vincent Armstrong

Our dad, Lauchlin Vincent Armstrong, age 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital.

Born in Heatherton, Antigonish County, on March 14, 1935, he was the son of the late Daniel and Annie (Chisholm) Armstrong. Over the years he had many interests and many vocations. Lauchlin was one of the original Heatherton Warriors hockey team, and typical for a hockey player, he loved to hit the golf courses. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, and a retired volunteer firefighter in Port Hawkesbury. He was a faithful and devoted member of St. Joseph's Church in Port Hawkesbury and Immaculate Conception Church in Heatherton.  He enjoyed baking, cooking, fishing and was always busy fixing and building things.

He is survived by his wife Catherine (Malcolm) Armstrong, Port Hawkesbury, his son Lauchlin Jr. (Shelly), New Brunswick, his son Daniel Armstrong, Antigonish, his daughter Karen (Dwayne) Armstrong, Port Hawkesbury, his son George (Samantha) Armstrong, Fort McMurray, grandchildren Christopher, Madison, Desiree, Gavin, Jacob, Jax, great-grandchildren Bradley, Logan, Ryan, many nieces and nephews, his siblings Billie and Betty, and predeceased by his siblings Rita Chisholm, Donnie Armstrong, Kevin Armstrong, Helen Brophy, Ann Mattie.

Visitation for Lauchlin will be held from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm on Wednesday, March 6th in Macisaac Funeral Home. Funeral to follow at 11 am on Thursday, March 7th in Immaculate Conception Church, Heatherton.  Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Heatherton, following the service, weather permitting. Memorial donations may be made to St. Martha’s Regional Hospital Foundation.
