Bernard Daniel Havelock (The Dude) MacLean was born in Antigonish on March 1, 1950 to the late John Hugh and Marjorie (MacArthur) MacLean. He passed away peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit of St. Martha's Regional Hosptial on March 26, 2024 at the age of 74.

Bernard was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces. He and his wife, Barbie, retired in Victoria, BC. Upon Barbie's death in 2018, he returned to Antigonish and resided at The Maples.

He is survived by his daughter Patience MacLean and granddaughter Aurora MacLean, Saint John, NB and daughter Camille Sanford, and grandchildren Della and Charlie Thibeau, Bridgewater; sisters Anita Camroux, Harrow, ON; Kay (Wayne) Trenholm, West River; Pauline Martell, Halifax; Bernadette (Alex) Delorey, Beaver Mountain; Brenda (Donnie) MacFarlane, Williams Point; Charlene Druhan, Ashdale; brothers John J. (Cavelle), Antigonish; Roderick (Debbie), Marshy Hope; sister-in-law Alma MacLean, Maryvale and brother-in-law Gerard MacKenzie, Toronto. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Barb MacFarland; brother Ev MacLean; sisters Ruby Boone and Marjorie Lynn MacKenzie; brothers-in-law Chuck Camroux, Ron Boone and Benny Druhan.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation.Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 am  Saturtday, May 11, 2024 in St. Ninian's Cathedral, Antigonish, Rev Dan MacLennan presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery. There will be a reception following at the Royal Canadian Legion, St. Ninian St.Antigonish.
