My deepest sympathy to the siblings and extended family of Oonagh. May your memories of her sustain you during this difficult time. I remember when the large O'Rourke family moved to Antigonish just 2 streets over from where I lived. I and some of my siblings shared classes over the years: e.g. Bernie and I were together Grades 9-11; Lelia was in class with my brother Eddie. RIP Oonagh. Sincerely, Paula Purcell, Ottawa

Dear Barbara and the O’Rourke family,
I was sorry to read that you have lost Oonagh. I also note how many of your siblings have also gone on. While growing old is a blessing and a joy in many ways, these benefits are tempered by the sadness of the loss of those we love. We can only treasure the good memories and hold our loved ones here closer.
While I did not know Oonagh really well, these pictures brought back what a stunning Celtic beauty she was! Please accept my sincere condolences at this time as you deal with her loss.

I knew Oonagh from our time at St. F. X. back in the early 1970's. We both graduated (twice), and like her, I took my B.A. followed by my B.Ed. Her gorgeous red hair, her sparkling smile and kind demeanour were unforgettable. I also knew her husband, Billy, and his sisters Linda and Joan as I had relatives in Hadleyville whom we visited often during my childhood in Mulgrave (Pirate Harbour). Billy and Oonagh were soulmates, a match made in Heaven. My sincere condolences to the families, and by the magic of modern technology, I was able to view the funeral service on-line today. With sympathy and prayers: Evelyn Kelly (now living in Victoria, British Columbia).

I offer my condolences to Oonagh's family. Oonagh and I graduated together in 1973 and 74. Oonagh was such a gentle soul that it is no surprise that she loved and was well loved by everyone she knew. I hope she is enjoying the peace and beauty of Heaven. Our loss here on earth is most assuredly Heaven's gain.

I am so saddened to read of Oonagh’s passing and pray that she and Billy are dancing with the angels. Her beautiful red hair, her warm shy smile, I hope will forever be a reminder of her grace and beauty - inside and out. Oonagh and I graduated together (yes, twice) and then taught together in the two room school in Boylston - probably because I was a Guysborough native, I was the Principal and she the Vice Principal. She was a kind, caring and dedicated teacher and we supported each other ( as much as we were capable as first year teachers :). Sincere condolences to all of Oonagh’s family. I know she made a difference in the lives she touched. Gods blessings to all.

You don’t know us but we live on the street which runs next to Arborstone. Our entire street knew and loved Oonagh. She would walk everyday and always stopped to see the children. We loved seeing her, and stopping to say hello. She always had a kind smile for the kids and would light up in the school yard. She will be missed in the neighbourhood. Sending your family love. - The families in Fleming Drive
