Obituary of Ronald Francis MacEachern

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Ronald Francis MacEachern on September 28, 2024 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital. Ronnie was born on September 25,1955 in Antigonish, N.S. He grew up in Williams Point where he played softball and made lifelong friends. His quick wit and joyful nature was enjoyed by all.

He graduated from the College of Cape Breton where he received his degree in Electrical Technology. After finishing his degree he worked for Nova Scotia Power for 37 years, travelling extensively all over Nova Scotia.

He was a special uncle to all his nieces and nephews, who loved him dearly. He generously gave his time teaching them to hunt, fish, ski, golf, throw a baseball, cheer for the Blue Jays and play cards. He also sponsored two children in overseas countries throughout his life.

In retirement Ronnie had an activity for every season. He enjoyed travelling and was an avid skier enjoying ski trips to Italy, Alberta, British Columbia, and Quebec with his Cape Breton friends. In the spring, he prepared for golfing season with his 8 km walks. Golf was another sport Ronnie enjoyed and he spent six days a week golfing at Glen Lovat Golf Course with his golfing buddies. When golfing season ended, he kept busy hunting.

The Blue Jays were his favorite team and if nieces or nephews were around he decked them out in Blue Jay hats and scarves while they watched the game with him. Quite often he travelled to attend Blue Jay games.

Ronnie will be remembered by his siblings: Donna (Terry),Calgary; Billy (Raylene), Calgary;  Robert (Angela), Williams Point; Carlie (Glen), Williams Point;  Diane (Mike),Clydesdale; Bernadine (Brad), Halifax; Martha (Gerard), Roman Valley; and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
